OBJECTIVES:
To bind and unite the entire members of the class.
To show appreciation to thise who have made us come this far (from lecturers to all well wishers)
To celebrate the uniqueness and dynamism of the department amongst other field of humanity.
To showcase, celebrate and promote the rich quality of our cultural heritage.
To orientate one another on the way to live a successful life after school
To show care, love and affection to the needy and less privileged
To create a terrain for the next generation to follow

INTRODUCTION:
The great department of linguistics and Nigerian languages, university of Ilorin is a citadel for academic excellence. Her proficiency is second to none among her peers. The dept has produced and is still producing series of great minded scholars into the field of linguistics at large. We, as potential graduates of this citadel, however, believes that the staunch spirit of togetherness amongst one another coupled up with some invaluable advice from our fathers (both within and outside the department) will make us better. Above all, as we’ve always been taught, both home and abroad, showing gratitude to Almighty God is very important.
It is in this light that the final year committee of this set has packaged and designed a week of fun, enlightenment , humanitarianism and appreciation. This week is tagged ‘’.
A complete breakdown of the activities for the proposed ‘final year week’ is given below;

DETAILS OF EVENTS
DAY 1: CORPORATE DAY
Monday being the first working day of the week will mark the beginning of this glorious week. All participating students will dress in corporate English attire. There will be an interactive session to be held at a proposed venue (ALT) later on that day. The corporate attires that will be worn on that day is to prepare the final year students for the dress sense in the corporate world. The interactive session is to sensitise the final year students on ways to live a successful life after school.
The session will be attended by our fathers and mothers in the department; it is to be chairedby the hod. There will also be in attendance some special guest from outside the department that are professionally inclined to brief us about the labour market.
Afterwards, the rest of the events on this package (fyb) will be declared open by the hod.

DAY 2: BACK TO SCHOOL
This day will be celebrated on the nextday (Tuesday), to remember our good old days; days when we were not as free as we are today. It will enable us remember our secondary school days. Therefore, on this day, all participating students will be dressed in their then secondary school outfits.
This is aimed at bringing out the fun of the secondary school days while one is in the university.

DAY3: CULTURAL DAY
Generally, people dress in native attires on Fridays and it is also of fact that the students of Yoruba also have inculcated the culture of wearing natives onwednesday. however, to further strengthen this trend, we propose that we all dress completely native on this day.
Culture is unique and peculiar to a group of people. this they show particularly with their mode of dressing and dance styles. Moreover, the fact that we are students of language is a necessity for us to uphold and strengthen our cultural heritage. Language and culture are inseperable.
The department is made up of students and staff from different tribes and cultural background. Therefore, this common platform will enhance every tribe or ethnic to showcase the uniqueness of their culture.
On this day, the participating students will be free to dress in any Nigerian attire of their choice to showcase their culture.

DAY 4: COLOUR RIOT
Colour riot has to do with the combination of multiple colours on one structure. I8n the right dress sense, it is the trend to match the right colours of outfit in order to look presentable and approachable. However, to spice up the fun of the week, we believe a rainbow like setting will be suitable. On this day, the participating students will dress in multiple colours or different colour combination to create that funky environment amongst one another.

DAY 5: CLINIC VISITATION.
In order to show gratitude and appreciation to God, we decided that a 2-3 hours visit to the clinic to help the sick in the hospital will do. On this day, any participating student wh wish to join the train will come along with the necessary things he or she wishes to give out.
